Dr. Pedro R. Cox, MD, MPH, FACC, FSCAI, a native of Puerto Rico, is renowned for his specialization in Interventional Cardiology and Structural Heart Disease. His clinical expertise encompasses the percutaneous management of complex coronary and endovascular interventions, as well as structural and valvular heart disease. Currently, he serves as the Director of the Structural Heart Valve Program at the University of Miami.
Dr. Cox's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan, followed by a Master of Public Health in Health Policy & Management from The George Washington University School of Public Health. He earned his Medical Doctor degree from the UCC School of Medicine, where he was distinguished by induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
His postgraduate training is extensive, including an Internal Medicine Residency at a MAH/Harvard Medical School affiliated hospital. He completed his Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Florida College of Medicine, and an Advanced Interventional Cardiology/Structural Heart Valve Interventions Fellowship at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, LA.
A Fellow of both the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, Dr. Cox holds board certifications in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Echocardiography, Interventional Cardiology, and Endovascular Interventions. As a recognized leader in structural heart interventions, he has been a featured speaker at numerous national medical conferences. His guest faculty roles include presentations at Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT), the American College of Cardiology’s Annual Scientific Meeting, and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions Annual Scientific Meeting. He also serves as the Associate Director of the New York Coronary and Vascular Summit (NYCVS), a prominent international cardiovascular scientific meeting.
